Dhaka to Host Sixth AHCAB International Animal Health Expo
An International Animal Health Exhibition will be held from January 8 to 10 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) near Kuril Bishwa Road in the capital, aiming to create new opportunities for international trade, technology exchange, and investment cooperation in the livestock and fisheries sectors.
Organised by the Animal Health Companies Association of Bangladesh (AHCAB), the Sixth AHCAB International Expo will see participation from 220 companies from 14 countries, featuring 128 local and international stalls.
The exhibition will showcase modern vaccines, medicines, feed solutions, diagnostic tools, and innovative technologies. In addition, seminars will be held with the participation of local and international experts focusing on animal health, sustainable development, and global trade. Organisers believe the expo will serve as an integrated platform connecting farmers, veterinarians, livestock professionals, agribusiness entrepreneurs, and policymakers.
Details of the event were shared at a press conference held on January 5 (Monday) at the National Press Club. It was announced that the expo will be inaugurated at 3:00 pm on January 8, with Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter attending as the chief guest.
The press conference was attended by AHCAB President Sayem Ul Haque, General Secretary Anwar Hossain, Vice President Dr Abdus Sabur, Joint General Secretary Dr Mohammad Sarwar Jahan, Treasurer Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan, Organising Secretary Mohammad Rashedul Zakir, and Munna Raihan, President of a fisheries and livestock organisation, among others.
AHCAB President Sayemul Haque said the association began its journey in 2003 with only 18 companies. At present, AHCAB has nearly 800 registered members, more than 400 of whom are actively involved, and most of them will participate in this year’s expo.
General Secretary Anwar Hossain noted that the biennial exhibition has played a significant role in improving the country’s animal health sector. He added that leading local companies use the expo not only to promote their products but also to exchange technology and innovation with foreign firms.
Treasurer Dr Md Mozammel Haque emphasised that animal health is closely linked to national development. He said a healthy livestock and fisheries sector ensures safe and nutritious food, creates employment, strengthens the rural economy and livelihoods, and plays a vital role in poverty reduction. He also noted that healthy companion animals positively contribute to human physical and mental well-being and to the broader economy.
