UN-Backed Platform “Future Bangladesh You Want” Launched to Empower Inclusive Civic Participation
A new digital platform, Future Bangladesh You Want, was launched on Monday, December 22, under the initiative of the United Nations to ensure spontaneous participation of all citizens—including youth, women, and marginalized communities—in Bangladesh’s national elections. The website features three distinct tabs: pledges for the kind of Bangladesh citizens want, the latest election announcements, and a space to share expectations. Additionally, users can participate in shaping the future of Bangladesh through an avatar-based photocard called “Vote-e Gori Bhobishshot” (“Building the Future Through Voting”).
Director (Public Relations) of the Election Commission Secretariat, Md. Ruhul Amin Mallick, said the portal aims to strengthen democratic practices and make citizen participation more inclusive and meaningful. Both the UN and the Bangladesh Election Commission emphasize that aware and responsible citizen engagement is essential for building a strong and sustainable democracy. The platform is designed to encourage positive dialogue, civic responsibility, and forward-thinking among citizens.
Through registration on the platform, all Bangladeshi citizens—including the youth—can express their vision for a future Bangladesh, learn about democracy, good governance, and responsible citizenship, and understand the importance of participating in elections.
The website presents messages on civic duty, voting rights, democratic values, and peaceful, responsible participation in clear and accessible language. The Election Commission has confirmed that the platform is fully neutral, apolitical, and open to all citizens.
