Hasnat Lashes Out Over ‘Safe Exit’ for Awami League Affiliated Offenders

Hasnat Abdullah, the Chief Organizer (Southern Region) of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), has accused the current interim government of facilitating a “safe exit” for Awami League-affiliated criminals, expressing outrage in a Facebook post that quickly went viral.

In a verified post on his personal account on Thursday morning (8 May), Abdullah wrote: “Killers are being allowed to leave the country safely, police make arrests but courts grant bail. State officials assist Shirin Sharmin in processing her passport right at her home under state supervision.”

The post, shared over a thousand times within an hour, has triggered a wave of critical reactions and comments.

He further questioned the government’s inaction: “The second tribunal was supposed to begin in January, but it’s May now and still nothing. And you’re saying the Awami League will be held accountable?”

Directly addressing the interim government, he added, “So, interim government, what justice and reforms have you accomplished so far?”

The remarks follow reports that several former ministers and MPs from the Awami League have already left the country and are leading comfortable lives abroad. Most recently, former President Abdul Hamid reportedly departed the country late Wednesday night.
