BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia remains in an extremely critical physical condition, prompting a wave of prayers across social media. Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, NCP’s Sarjis Alam, Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Rashed Khan, and July Uprising activist Mir Snigdha, among many others, have posted prayers on Facebook seeking her recovery.

Following adviser Asif Nazrul’s Facebook post from outside the hospital, several other advisers—including the ICT and Telecom Ministry’s Special Assistant Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb—also posted late Friday night, praying for Khaleda Zia’s well-being.

Amid this situation, expressing his longing to stand beside his mother but noting that he cannot return to the country on personal discretion alone, the party’s Acting Chairman and Khaleda Zia’s eldest son Tarique Rahman made a post from his verified Facebook account at around 8:45 am on Saturday, 29 November.

Currently residing in London, Tarique Rahman wrote:
“Former Prime Minister and national leader Begum Khaleda Zia is critically ill and remains in intensive care at the hospital. People from all walks of life—regardless of political affiliation—are sincerely praying for her recovery. The Chief Adviser has also expressed his prayers and assured full support for her treatment.”

He added that medical teams at home and abroad continue to provide the highest level of professional and heartfelt care, stating:
“Friendly nations have also expressed their willingness to extend advanced medical support along with all possible assistance.”

Expressing the Zia family’s deep gratitude for the prayers and concern shown towards Khaleda Zia, he further said:
“At the same time, I earnestly request everyone to continue praying for her speedy recovery.”

Sharing his own emotional struggle, he wrote:
“Like any child, I too have an intense longing to feel my mother’s affection during such a critical time. But unlike others, I do not have unfettered authority or unilateral freedom to make decisions in this regard. Due to the sensitivity of the matter, elaborating further is difficult. Our family remains hopeful that once the political situation reaches the expected stage, my prolonged anxious wait to return home will finally come to an end.”
