E-Waste Awareness: Ensuring a Cleaner, Greener Tomorrow
With the crucial theme “Recycle Your E-Waste, It’s Critical,” Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd. observed International E-Waste Day 2025 on October 14 at its head office. The awareness program was jointly organized by one of the country’s leading technology firms, Smart Technologies, and the social organization Lal Shobuj Society, emphasizing the urgent need for effective e-waste management.
The event featured key speakers including Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Managing Director of Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd.; Chowdhury Golam Nur-e-Sani, General Manager and Head of HR; and Walid Khan, CEO of E-Revive.
Serving as the chief guest, Mohammad Zahirul Islam said, “E-waste or electronic waste poses a severe threat to the environment and human health. It contaminates soil, poisons groundwater, and its toxic elements can severely affect the human nervous system, kidneys, and reproductive health. The impact is even more devastating for children—causing developmental delays, respiratory problems, and skin diseases. Therefore, it is crucial to collect, recycle, and dispose of e-waste properly to ensure a safe and livable planet for future generations.”
Highlighting the event’s core theme, Chowdhury Golam Nur-e-Sani stressed the importance of corporate accountability and employee awareness in e-waste management.
E-Revive CEO Walid Khan discussed the business potential of e-waste recycling, saying, “With the right technology and initiatives, e-waste recycling can become both a profitable and eco-friendly industry.”
The session was moderated by Azizun Nahar Toma, Volunteer Coordinator of the Lal Shobuj Society.
