Google is set to launch a new video editing feature—Google Vids integration—within its cloud storage service, Google Drive. This feature will primarily be available to select Google Workspace customers and will begin rolling out gradually within the next 15 days, reports GSM Arena.

According to Google’s announcement, when users open a video in Google Drive, they will see a purple Google Vids icon at the top right corner. By clicking on it, the video will load directly in Google Vids, where basic editing such as trimming, adding music, and inserting text overlays can be done entirely in a cloud-based environment. After editing, a new Vids file will be created, which must be saved separately.

However, this integration will only apply to MP4, QuickTime, OGG, and WebM video formats that are under 35 minutes in length and smaller than 4GB in size. Free Google Drive users will not have access to this feature for now.

The feature will be available to the following Workspace subscribers: Business Starter, Standard, and Plus; Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus; Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, and Enterprise Essentials Plus; Nonprofits; Gemini Education and Gemini Education Premium users; Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers; and those who previously purchased Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-ons.

Although Google has said that the feature will be easiest to use on desktop, it can also be accessed in a limited capacity through mobile browsers.
