The interim government of Bangladesh is set to establish ‘Innovation Hubs’ across ten universities to pave the way for intellectual research and innovation aimed at public welfare. Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Chief Adviser to the government and Special Assistant in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, announced this initiative at the Lead Digital Innovation (LTHRADI.NET) Summit 2025 held on Saturday, 26 July, at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.

Speaking at the summit, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb highlighted Bangladesh’s growing potential and investment climate in the global digital economy. “Sixty percent of the country’s total population comprises youth — the primary driving force behind digital transformation. The government is implementing long-term plans in the ICT sector to develop this human resource into a skilled and productive workforce,” he said. He discussed ongoing efforts including ICT infrastructure development, startup investment, cybersecurity, and upcoming national policies related to artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and blockchain technology.

In addition to the Innovation Hubs, a project has been launched to digitize Bangladesh’s literary and cultural heritage to strengthen Bengali language-based AI models.

Concluding his remarks, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb urged technology leaders, researchers, and entrepreneurs to actively participate in the upcoming national policy formulation process. “A collective effort from all is essential to shape the future of a smart, inclusive, and innovative Bangladesh,” he emphasized.

The event was attended by prominent figures including Commodore Syed Misbah Uddin Ahmed, Director General of the Bangladesh Institute of Maritime Research and Development (BIMRAD), Akhtar Uzzaman, CEO of Blue Pie Solutions, Imadur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited, Md. Farhad Kabir, Program Manager of IT consulting and project management company LoggingIn.com, and Md. Abdullah Al Mahmud, founder and CEO of Thriving Scottish, among others.

The eight-hour seminar focused on strategies to bring back the country’s intellectual resources and build a knowledge-based society.
