Digital Diary Drive: Police to Expand Online GD Services Nationwide

The Bangladesh Police is set to expand its digital services by allowing citizens to file all types of General Diaries (GDs) online, not just those related to lost and found items. This new development has been confirmed by the Police Headquarters, marking a significant step in making law enforcement services more accessible.
As part of this initiative, starting Tuesday (April 15), all police stations under the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) and the Chandpur District Police will begin offering comprehensive online GD services. Although initially being launched on a pilot basis in these two areas, the service is expected to be rolled out nationwide across all police stations in phases.
This development comes under the directive of the chief advisor, as part of broader efforts to simplify and modernize police services. Citizens will now be able to file any type of GD from the comfort of their homes.
Confirming the update, AIG (Media and PR) of Bangladesh Police Headquarters, Enamul Haque Sagar, stated in a press release issued on Sunday (April 13): “To avail the online GD service, citizens are advised to first download the ‘Online GD’ app from the Google Play Store.”
The statement further noted that registration is required to access the service but only needs to be completed once. In case of any difficulties with the registration process or while filing a GD online, individuals are encouraged to contact the 24/7 hotline at 01320001428 for assistance.
