Uber Unveils Hybrid Subscription for Bangladesh Bike Drivers
Uber has introduced a ‘hybrid subscription’ plan for bike riders in Bangladesh, allowing drivers to choose subscriptions based on their convenience and take trips through the platform accordingly.
Designed for both full-time and part-time drivers, the model aims to enhance flexibility, reduce off-app trips, and expand app-based services. Uber Bangladesh believes the new plan will discourage offline trip-taking by riders and improve service quality for passengers.
On 25 March, Wednesday, Uber Bangladesh stated that under the new subscription model, drivers will be able to offer trips with zero percent commission, enabling them to retain their full earnings—an opportunity seen as particularly beneficial for part-time drivers. According to Uber, the hybrid model has been developed based on insights gained from subscription services launched in Dhaka in 2023.
Nashid Ferdous Kamal, Country Head of Uber Bangladesh, said that increasing drivers’ independence and boosting app-based trips would also help ensure passenger safety. The company added that the new feature is expected to make the platform more profitable and reliable for thousands of Uber bike drivers in Dhaka.
