On the day of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the constitutional reform referendum, metro rail services in the capital Dhaka are operating normally. Authorities have confirmed that trains are running according to the scheduled timetable to ensure voters can reach polling centers without disruption. Preparations have also been made to increase the number of trains if passenger pressure rises.

At the same time, passenger train services are operating across the country.

On Thursday, February 12, metro rail operations on the Uttara–Motijheel route began at 6:30 am. Simultaneously, passenger trains departed from Kamalapur Railway Station in line with regular schedules.

It has been learned that as other modes of public transport remain limited on voting day, many commuters—particularly those traveling along the Uttara–Motijheel corridor—are expected to rely on the metro rail service. In light of this, enhanced security measures have been implemented at stations to maintain law and order.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) stated that, if necessary, the number of metro trains will be increased beyond the regular schedule during voting hours to facilitate voter movement.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Railway has reported that train services across the country remain normal. Intercity, local, and commuter trains are operating according to their scheduled timetables. Railway police and concerned officials are working in the field to ensure passengers’ safe travel.

Authorities have claimed that all necessary preparations have been taken to guarantee the comfortable and secure movement of voters on election day.
