Chhatra Dal Announces 22-Member Panel for SUCSU Polls

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has announced a 22-member panel for the upcoming election of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Central Students’ Union (SUCSU) in Sylhet. The panel has been named “Somonnito SUSTian Oikya” (United SUSTian Alliance).

Although there are 23 posts in the union, Chhatra Dal could not nominate a candidate for the post of Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary, leaving one position vacant.

The panel was formally announced on Monday (December 15) at a press conference held at the university’s Gol Chattar, where Nasir Uddin Nasir, General Secretary of the Chhatra Dal Central Committee, made the declaration.

According to the panel, Mostakim Billah will contest for the post of Vice-President (VP), Maruf Billah for General Secretary (GS), and Jahirul Islam for Assistant General Secretary (AGS).

Other candidates include Shakil Hasan (Sports Secretary), Jillur Rahman Jilon (Assistant Sports Secretary), Md Asadul Haque (Literature and Annual Publication Secretary), Amit Malakar (Cultural Secretary), Md Tajul Islam (Religion and Community Affairs Secretary), Rubel Mia Rabbi (Social Welfare Secretary), Mahmuda Ria (Women’s Affairs Secretary), Mostafa Ahmed (Health and Environment Secretary), Muntasir Mamun Shuvo (Education, Research and Career Development Secretary), Tarek Rahman (Information and Technology Secretary), Mohammad Ashiq (International Affairs Secretary), Nasimul Huda (Transport Secretary), Sohanur Rahman (Cafeteria and Canteen Secretary), and Khalid Saifullah (Law and Human Rights Secretary).

The panel’s candidates for member posts are Hridoy Mia, Hridoy Ahsan, Affan, Antugop, and Maruf Saklain.

Addressing the absence of a nominee for the Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary post, Nasir Uddin Nasir said that as the panel is intended to be inclusive, efforts are ongoing to nominate a suitable candidate for the position.
