Ulkasemi celebrates 19 years
Marking a milestone of thousands of chip designs by 600 engineers
Ulkasemi, one of Bangladesh's leading semiconductor design service companies, performs high-tech tasks such as chip design (IC Design), circuit design, and physical verification for global organisations including Apple, from its base in Bangladesh. The company has reached its 20th anniversary.
Having started its journey in 2007, it has already expanded its operations to India, the United States, and Canada, and is now moving into Japan. It has been working successfully in the fields of mobile devices, smart routers, graphics processors, and AI-powered technology. This semiconductor design company, aiming to create 5,000 jobs by 2030, is moving at lightning speed, just like its name suggests. Currently, over six hundred engineers are employed by the company, and through their efforts, this Bangladeshi deep-tech firm has successfully designed over a thousand chips.
Ulkasemi authorities announced this at their 19th anniversary celebration. On Wednesday, 18th February, the pioneering company in the country's semiconductor sector celebrated its anniversary with a small, private event. At the anniversary event, they announced the achievement of milestones such as the successful design or tape-out of over 1,000 chips and the creation of employment for over 600 skilled engineers.
The two Ulkasemi design centres in Dhaka, located at Rahmans Regnam Centre and Trade Intercontinental Centre, were buzzing with a festive atmosphere for the occasion.
The CEO and President of the organisation, Mohammad Enayet Ullah, Chairperson Dr. Arifa Chowdhury Rahman, VP of Engineering, and Directors were present at the joyous event. During the event, Mohammad Enayet Ullah emphasised the need to adapt to changing times.
Addressing the youth, he said that the world's technology landscape is changing rapidly, and the supply chain is looking for new destinations. He reminded them that the name of this industry is semiconductor, and opportunities here can vanish in nanoseconds, so there is no time to delay.

He further stated that Ulkasemi's engineers are working on extremely fine technologies ranging from 180 nanometres down to 1.4 nanometres. It's possible that the chip for a smartphone, AI-powered computer, or even a life-saving medical device was designed at a desk in Dhaka, by a Bangladeshi youth.
Ulkasemi is a global partner of the world-renowned TSMC Design Centre Alliance. After 19 years, Ulkasemi's ambition is now even greater: to transform Bangladesh into a multi-billion-dollar 'deep-tech' economy, moving beyond traditional exports. This 20-year journey expresses the determination to strengthen Bangladesh's position in a high-value, technology-driven economy, beyond conventional export products.
