MoE Mandates Mindful Media Conduct
The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has issued a directive cautioning teachers, officials, staff, and students of government educational institutions against making or sharing inappropriate posts or comments on social media platforms following the recent fire incident.
The directive, signed by Khalid Hossain, Assistant Director (General Administration) of DSHE, was issued on Wednesday, 22 October, and sent to the heads of all government secondary and higher secondary institutions across the country. It also instructs authorities to ensure awareness among teachers, officials, staff, and students regarding responsible social media use.
In the letter, DSHE urged teachers, officials, staff, and students under its jurisdiction to adhere to the “Guidelines for the Use of Social Media in Government Institutions, 2019 (Revised Version)” and the “Cyber Security Ordinance, 2025.”
The order stated that the “Guidelines for the Use of Social Media in Government Institutions, 2019 (Revised Version)” and the “Cyber Security Ordinance, 2025” aim to ensure cyber safety and regulate the identification, prevention, suppression, and prosecution of cyber-related crimes and associated matters. It further noted that noncompliance with these regulations constitutes a breach of the code of conduct, poses risks to national security, and may lead to punishable offenses.
The order added, “All concerned must refrain from making, commenting on, or sharing inappropriate content on social media and should work to raise awareness to prevent cybercrime. Necessary assistance may be sought from national security agencies and law enforcement authorities where required.”
