Flyadeal Launches Low-Cost Direct Flights Between Dhaka and Jeddah
Saudi Arabia’s low-cost carrier, Flyadeal, has officially commenced direct flights on the Dhaka–Jeddah route, offering travelers a more affordable air travel option. The airline’s inaugural flight departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, October 22, marking Flyadeal’s formal entry into Bangladesh.
The launch ceremony in Bangladesh was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq. Senior Flyadeal officials, including Mokarram Siddiq, Arafat Khan, and Imran Jahan, were also present at the event.
Speaking after cutting the ceremonial cake to mark the airline’s debut, the CAAB Chairman said, “Flyadeal has opened a new chapter in Bangladesh for our expatriate brothers and sisters in Saudi Arabia as well as for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. This airline will foster healthy competition by offering affordable, reliable, and comfortable travel options. We are continuously updating our infrastructure and regulations to make our aviation sector more business-friendly.”
Flyadeal, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), is one of the fastest-growing budget airlines in the Middle East. Despite being a low-cost carrier, it will offer complimentary meals and baggage services for passengers. The addition of this new route is expected to reduce travel expenses and intensify competition in the Bangladesh–Saudi aviation market.
Initially, the airline will operate two weekly flights between Dhaka and Jeddah. According to the schedule, flight F3-9112 will depart Jeddah at 1:30 a.m. local time for Dhaka, while the return flight F3-9113 will leave Dhaka for Jeddah at 1:00 p.m.
Officials noted that the new service will enable both migrant workers and general travelers to enjoy more competitive fares and greater convenience in air travel.
