From Math to Machines: Tariq Adnan Moon Inspires Young Minds at BdOSN Talk
In today's world, artificial intelligence is no longer a distant concept but a part of everyday reality. To lead in this evolving landscape, one must not only understand technology but also be able to think critically, ask questions, and analyze deeply. Tariq Adnan Moon reminded the audience that those unafraid of math, those who ask questions, and those brave enough to dive into problems are the ones who will find their way in this new era.
Tariq Adnan Moon, an internationally recognized tech entrepreneur and researcher, was the featured guest at the latest session of “BdOSN Talk,” organized by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN). The theme of the discussion was “A Personal Journey from Math Olympiad to AI Systems,” highlighting Moon’s inspiring trajectory—from his early days in math competitions to his contributions to artificial intelligence on a global stage. He also spoke on the formulation and implementation of the national AI policy.
The event was held on August 4 at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in Dhaka. During the session, Moon candidly shared his journey—from participating in math olympiads as a teenager to conducting AI research at Harvard University, working with leading global firms such as eBay and Goldman Sachs, and eventually founding his own technology company, AlpineX.
AlpineX is an emerging tech startup focused on AI-powered solutions in the fintech, healthtech, and edutech sectors. The company has already successfully deployed its technologies across markets in Europe and North America. Reflecting on his journey, Moon said, “The way we used to play with numbers as kids, today those same numbers are used to make machines think. The difference is only in the medium—but the journey always begins with curiosity and questions.”
His experience goes beyond AI or technology; it illustrates how a passionate teenager can transform their interests into a global impact. The session came alive with participation from aspiring tech minds and entrepreneurial students.
Also present were Munir Hasan, President of BdOSN; coordinators of the Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (BdAIO); representatives from various tech and educational organizations; and a large number of enthusiastic students. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students directly asked Moon about AI, career planning, and entrepreneurship, to which he responded with warmth and clarity.
Participant Md. Riel Khan shared, “Listening to Moon bhai's journey gave me the courage to dream bigger. It strengthened my belief that we too can make our mark in the world of technology.”
