DNA Drive Begins to Identify Unidentified Victims of Uttara Plane Crash

Efforts are underway to identify six unidentified bodies recovered from the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has begun collecting DNA samples from relatives to assist in the identification process. As of now, samples have been collected from two individuals, including the parents of one of the victims.
According to the Ministry of Health, six bodies and five sets of body parts have undergone autopsies and sample collection. The procedures were conducted on Tuesday night, July 22.
The autopsies were performed by Dr. Subrata Hawlader, Assistant Professor of the Forensic Department at Sir Salimullah Medical College, while DNA sampling was overseen by CID’s Forensic Division DIG Jamshed Ali.
CID stated, “Since the identities of six deceased victims have yet to be confirmed, we humbly request that if anyone is still missing their child or relative and their name does not appear in the provided victim list, they should visit the CID headquarters in Malibagh for DNA sampling and assistance.”
The Ministry of Health reported that as of Monday, July 21, a total of 28 people have died in the incident, while 68 others are currently undergoing treatment at five different hospitals. However, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the confirmed death toll stands at 31, with 165 injured.
All the recovered bodies are currently being preserved at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
