JUST Unveils Tk 98.53 Crore Budget for FY 2025–26
Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has announced a budget of Tk 98.53 crore for the fiscal year 2025–26. Of this amount, Tk 92.43 crore will come from the University Grants Commission (UGC), while Tk 6.10 crore will be generated from the university's own sources.
The budget was presented by JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun during the 107th special meeting of the university's highest policymaking body, the Regent Board, held on Tuesday afternoon, June 24, in the conference room of the administrative building. Following the presentation, members of the Regent Board offered their opinions and recommendations on various allocations, and the budget was unanimously approved.
Additionally, the board approved the revised budget of Tk 89.66 crore for FY 2024–25 based on the government allocation. Several members attended the meeting both in person and virtually.
While presenting the budget, Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun stated, “The budget proposal has been made within the income and expenditure limits set by the University Grants Commission.” He highlighted that Tk 4.60 crore has been allocated for research to enhance opportunities for faculty and students, adding, “Given the university’s growing contribution to research, we have requested the government to increase the budget further.”
He also noted the significant growth of the university’s financial scope over the years: “In the 2008–09 fiscal year, the university’s first budget amounted to only Tk 1.23 crore. Since then, as the university expanded, so did the budget—reaching Tk 98.53 crore in 2025–26, an 80.11-fold increase in 18 years.”
Following the approval, JUST Vice-Chancellor and Regent Board Chair Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid stated, “As the university's research and operational scope expands, so does the budget. Nearly all projects under the FY 2024–25 budget are nearing completion with transparency and precision. This administration will continue to uphold transparency and contribute to the university’s advancement.” He extended his heartfelt thanks on behalf of the Regent Board to the Accounts Directorate and others involved in preparing the budget.
