Droid Developers Dive Deep: AI and Android Dominate Droidcon Bangladesh 2025

All eyes were on the stage at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) campus as a keynote presentation on the use of Artificial Intelligence in mobile testing captivated an audience of Android developers. Not a sound could be heard as participants absorbed the strategic insights on “AI in Mobile Testing,” marking one of the standout sessions of Droidcon Bangladesh 2025—the country’s largest technical conference on Android.

The two-day event, which began on June 20, drew over 500 participants from home and abroad, including tech enthusiasts, developers, startup founders, and hiring managers. Organized to enhance the global competitiveness of Bangladeshi app developers, the venue buzzed with learning, networking, and casual camaraderie. In between sessions, attendees were seen snapping selfies with peers, exchanging solutions to complex coding problems, and enjoying a round of FIFA Cup at the Pathao gaming zone.

The final day of the conference, held on Saturday, June 21, featured a rich lineup of talks and activities. Topics included Android security, Kotlin multiplatform, engineering leadership, and advanced testing strategies using AI. The event was powered by global and local tech firms such as JetBrains, NativeWebs, Olt, Brain Station 23, Check, Pathao, and Zellefare, whose analysts, technologists, and programmers shared their expertise throughout more than 20 technical sessions.

Coffee lovers were not disappointed either, with Coffee Kahf offering an array of brews alongside coffee-making machines for tech-fueled breaks.

Among the attendees was Tamanna Rahman, a student at a private university, who shared, “This conference has been immensely helpful for those who are working with or planning to work in Android. It covered a wide range of relevant topics that enriched our knowledge.” Another participant, Shahariar Rahman, echoed similar sentiments: “The global Android app market is growing rapidly every year. Though Android usage is increasing in Bangladesh, we still have a shortage of professionals. This event could play a crucial role in nurturing new talent in this space.”

Closing day sessions highlighted eye-opening statistics: in 2024, there were 137.8 billion global app and game downloads, and the market value is projected to surpass USD 623 billion by 2030. While the number of app developers globally has crossed 5.9 million, the representation from Bangladesh remains modest.

Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Mahi-us-Sunnat, Senior Android Engineer at NativeWebs (Austria), stated, “We want to encourage young Bangladeshi developers to work on Android. Compared to other countries, we still have very few professional Android app developers. Through this event, we aimed to boost the skills of emerging developers and those looking to build a career in app development.”

The event brought together students, tech professionals, startup enthusiasts, and innovators from across the country. This was the first Droidcon in Dhaka since 2017. Other global editions of the event in 2025 are being held in Berlin, San Francisco, London, and Nairobi.

The main sponsor of this year’s conference was Dynamic Solution Innovators Ltd., with Brain Station 23 and Check serving as Gold Sponsors. Community partners included BDApps, JetBrains, and Agile Bangladesh. IUB IEEE Bangladesh Section and IUB’s CSE department supported the venue, while Techbyte Solutions co-hosted and Sunnat629 Dev led the organizing team.
