Following ‘Tomader Golpo’ and ‘Shomporker Golpo’, director Muhammad Mostafa Kamal Raj’s new YouTube film ‘Family Man’, starring Farhan Ahmed Jovan and Tanzim Saiyara Totini, has deeply touched audiences. Blending reflections of real life, remarkable direction, outstanding performances, and emotionally stirring music, the family-centered content has left viewers teary-eyed.

Released on the Cinemawala YouTube channel on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, ‘Family Man’ garnered 3 million views within a single day, according to director Raj’s social media post. The 1 hour 46-minute-long film crossed 2 million views within just 22 hours and 33 minutes, while receiving more than 10,000 comments.

The film portrays the realities of how a middle-class family experiences the month of Ramadan and Eid. Based on a story by Siddiq Ahmed, it follows Mamun and Neelu, who are in love. Neelu comes from a wealthy family, while Mamun works a low-paying job in Dhaka. His mother, younger sister, and grandfather live in the village. During Ramadan, Mamun breaks his fast modestly and eats leftover rice at sehri to save money for Eid clothes for his family. Despite not receiving a bonus, he refrains from buying anything for himself and instead returns to the village with gifts for everyone. He struggles to balance his responsibilities toward his family with his love for Neelu.

Many viewers reported being moved to tears while watching most scenes of ‘Family Man’. Numerous expatriates found their own lives reflected in the story and expressed their emotions in the comment section. Many have described it as “the best drama of this Eid.”

Farhan Ahmed Jovan’s portrayal of Mamun has received widespread acclaim, particularly for depicting a young man devoted to his family. Tanzim Saiyara Totini impressed audiences with her expressive performance as Neelu, a rural young woman. Monira Akter Mithu, as Mamun’s mother, and Solaiman Khoka, as his grandfather, also delivered emotionally powerful performances. The crying scenes of Jovan, Totini, and Monira Mithu have been especially highlighted by viewers.

A viewer named Md. Shahin Alam commented, “This is not just a drama; it is a reflection of real life. It beautifully portrays family responsibility, love, and life’s struggles. Every scene leaves a lasting impression. The characters felt so real, as if we were watching the stories of people around us. Honestly, it’s the kind of drama one wants to watch again and again.”

Another viewer, Tarek Rony, wrote, “I cried while watching the drama. Even after finishing it, I kept crying for an hour. Middle-class children are truly family men.”

Md. Sohrab Hossain shared, “I cried after watching this drama. I don’t have a father, but I have a brother who has been like a banyan tree, shielding me from that pain. Today I realized how much an elder brother sacrifices for the family. The story closely matches my brother’s life. When my father passed away, my brother was only 16, yet he took on the entire family’s responsibility.”

Mehedi Hasan thanked the director for such a realistic work, writing, “Since my first year at university, my father has been unable to work due to illness. I don’t even know when I became the ‘family man’ of my household. Through tutoring and coaching, I manage expenses for my parents’ medicine and my younger brother’s education. I found so many similarities between the drama and my own life.”

Many expatriates also shared their reactions. A viewer named Riaz Hossain commented, “This story resonates with the lives of thousands of expatriates. May all middle-class people stay well.”

Another expatriate, Shakib Rana, wrote, “Tears came to my eyes while watching. Life for the middle class is always full of struggles. We sacrifice all our lives for others and silently cry at the end of the day.”

In the film, Ishrat Atithi plays the younger sister, while Mahmudul Islam Mithu and Rozy Siddique portray Neelu’s parents. MNU Raju appears as Mamun’s roommate and friend. Guest appearances include Tanzim Hasan Anik, Shertaz Jahan Jebin, Naushin Disha, Tushar Mamun, Inzam Miju, Rafayat Hossain Abir, and Akbar Hossain. Cinematography was done by Suman Hossain, with editing and color grading by Rashed Rabbi.

‘Family Man’ features two new songs. Among them, ‘Madhyobitto’ (Middle Class), composed and sung by Arfin Rumey with lyrics by Kabir Bakul, is used in most scenes. Its touching melody enhances the emotional depth of the film, especially during the tearful moments.

Another song titled ‘Thako Amar Pashe’ (Stay By My Side) is composed and sung by Marcel, with vocals by Dola and lyrics by Lutfur Hasan.
