Environment Minister launches hotline to stop extortion, 167 complaints filed online in five days
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintu has launched a hotline and website complaint system to stop extortion, terrorism and all kinds of irregularities in his constituency, Feni-3 (Daganbhuiyan-Sonagazi). He has stated that 167 complaints have already been submitted on the website and numerous phone calls have been received.
He shared this information in a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 24th February.
In the Facebook post, the minister wrote, "To date, we have received 167 complaints on the website and numerous phone calls. This proves that you want change. We are committed to resolving each complaint with utmost importance."
In the same post, Abdul Awal Mintu urged people not to call the hotline unless it is an emergency and encouraged them to submit complaints on the website for a quicker resolution.
Previously, on Thursday (19th February) night, the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintu announced the opening of a hotline number and website in a status on his Facebook page to keep extortion, terrorism and all kinds of irregularities at bay. Simultaneously, he publicised the number 017300-04844 for lodging complaints.
It is worth noting that industrial entrepreneur and BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time in the 13th National Assembly election. Immediately after becoming an MP, he secured a place in the cabinet. Feni district, which had been without a minister for two decades, is once again represented in the ministry through him. Relevant circles believe that this responsibility will not only bring a new equation to the district's political arena but also accelerate development activities.
