ISPAB Demand Swift Justice for Slain Internet Entrepreneur

The Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) has issued a seven-day ultimatum for the arrest of those responsible for the recent killing of internet entrepreneur Kamrul Ahsan, who was shot dead in the capital’s Middle Badda area. The demand was made in a press statement released on Tuesday on behalf of the ISPAB Executive Committee.
According to the statement, “On Sunday night (May 25, 2025), Kamrul Ahsan, founder of Swadesh Communication—a leading ISP in the Dhaka Division—was killed in indiscriminate gunfire by terrorists and miscreants in the Gudara Ghat area of Middle Badda.” Ahsan was a respected member of ISPAB (Member A-278).
“We strongly condemn this brutal killing of an internet entrepreneur in the heart of the capital. We express our deepest outrage and disgust. At the same time, the ISPAB community expresses grave concern that even after 48 hours, the culprits behind this murder have not been apprehended,” the statement read.
“We demand that the perpetrators be identified and brought to justice within the next seven days. If law enforcement agencies fail to act, the internet service community will be compelled to launch a strong protest.”
The statement further added, “Every ISP member registered with BTRC is now considered a provider of essential services and internet connectivity is recognized as a fundamental right by the government. If the safety of internet entrepreneurs and workers is not ensured, this critical service infrastructure may collapse.”
The ISPAB Executive Committee urged the authorities to take the matter seriously and implement immediate and decisive action.
