PlayStation Network Restored After Prolonged Outage

PlayStation Network (PSN) has returned to normal operations after nearly a full day of disruption.

Sony announced the restoration through its @AskPlayStation X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, “PSN has recovered. Online features should now be working without issues. We apologize for the inconvenience.” The company also advised users to check the PSN status page for updates.

The outage, which began on Friday evening, affected account management, gaming and social features, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and the PlayStation Direct website. Many users experienced difficulties launching games, accessing applications, or using network features.

While Sony officially acknowledged the issue on its website at 7 PM Eastern Time on Friday, data from Downdetector suggests that the disruption began nearly an hour earlier. At its peak, around 70,000 users reported experiencing problems.

Sony has yet to provide an official explanation for the outage. However, such incidents are not unprecedented; PSN was down for eight hours in October and also experienced partial disruptions in May.
