Two students of the University of Frontier Technology, Bangladesh (UFTB), Md. Al Riyad and Wasif Ajan Nafiz, have received the Gold Award at the international World Sustainable Development Goals Challenge (WSDG) 2026 held in Malaysia.
They received the award for their project titled “Designing Infrastructure-Independent Mesh Communication with End-to-End Security and Real-Time Health Monitoring for Military Personnel Situational Awareness.” The project presents technological solutions for secure communication without dependence on infrastructure and real-time monitoring of the health conditions of military personnel.
The project was supervised by Farzana Akter, Assistant Professor of the Department of Internet of Things and Robotics Engineering at UFTB, and Md. Ashikuchchalehin, Lecturer in the same department.
The Gold Award certificates were presented to them at the WSDG 2026 International Awarding Ceremony, held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Tan Chancellor Hall of Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
The award recognized technology-driven solutions aligned with innovation, creativity, and the Sustainable Development Goals. The event also emphasized encouraging forward-looking thinking and innovation.
UFTB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Moktar Ali congratulated Md. Al Riyad and Wasif Ajan Nafiz on receiving the Gold Award.
In a congratulatory message, the Vice-Chancellor said the students’ international achievement was a significant success for the university’s technology-focused higher education, research, and innovation activities. He said the international recognition of their work in important areas such as secure communication, real-time health monitoring, and infrastructure-independent technology systems had created new opportunities for the university’s research and innovation initiatives.
He further said such international achievements would encourage students to engage more actively in research, innovation, and technology-based problem-solving. At the same time, the achievement would play an important role in showcasing the capabilities of Bangladesh’s young technologists on the international stage.
