Accelerating technological integration across foundational schooling, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj held high-level bilateral discussions with UNICEF’s Global Education Director Pia Rebello Britto at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The diplomatic meeting took place at the United Nations Plaza on 25 September 2026, focusing on modernizing pedagogical delivery and elevating foundational learning outcomes.
The deliberations centered on deploying educational technology (EdTech), developing English communication competencies, and integrating cognitive artificial intelligence (AI) learning models into primary curricula. State Minister Bobby Hajjaj noted that emerging digital platforms expand learning accessibility and equip children with functional foundational competencies. He emphasized leveraging institutional partnerships with premier multinational tech giants, including Google, to strengthen administrative execution and upskill teaching faculty nationwide.
The dialogue further underscored the imperative of establishing barrier-free, equitable classrooms for children with disabilities, ensuring vulnerable demographics are not left behind due to physical or environmental impediments. Reaffirming continuous institutional support, Pia Rebello Britto committed UNICEF’s technical resources, advisory expertise, and global collaborative channels to help Bangladesh deliver quality, future-ready, and inclusive education for every child.
On the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the State Minister subsequently participated in a ministerial-level roundtable titled ‘Skills for Brighter Futures: Investing in Human Capital for Youth on the Move’ held at UNICEF House. Addressing the summit, he affirmed that building competitive youth human capital requires embedding progressive skills into foundational schooling, inviting deeper international cooperation to advance this objective.
