DUET and Selçuk Sign Synergy: Strengthening Scholarly and Scientific Ties

Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Gazipur, and Selçuk University of Turkey have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand and strengthen cooperation in education, research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, October 9, at the DUET conference hall, attended by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Zainal Abedin and Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Arefin Kawsar.

On behalf of DUET, the MoU was signed by Registrar (Additional Duty) Professor Dr. Moha. Abu Taiyeb, while Professor Dr. Rezai Kush, Coordinator of the International Relations Coordination Office, signed on behalf of Selçuk University. Faculty members and administrative officials of DUET were also present at the event.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Zainal Abedin said, “Today’s Memorandum of Understanding marks a milestone in building a bridge of knowledge, research, and technology between the two universities. This initiative opens a new chapter in academic and cultural collaboration, enhancing opportunities for knowledge exchange, research cooperation, and global exposure for students—making our education system more modern, practical, and internationally competitive.”

He added, “DUET aims to prepare skilled human resources capable of meeting the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and leading the transformation toward the Fifth Industrial Revolution. This MoU with Selçuk University is a new step toward that horizon—laying the foundation for enduring friendship and collaboration between the two nations in education, research, and innovation.” Expressing optimism, he further said, “This academic partnership will not be limited to exchange programs between students and teachers—it will become a shared journey of intellect, creativity, and technological excellence between two brotherly nations. Such cooperation will play a pioneering role in building an innovative and sustainable Bangladesh.”

Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Arefin Kawsar stated, “The joint initiative between DUET and Selçuk University will significantly contribute to strengthening higher education, research, and industrial collaboration, thereby producing a skilled workforce. We hope this partnership will expand the exchange of knowledge and experience between students and faculty of both countries and open up new possibilities for world-class research.”
