As the ten-day Eid-ul-Adha holidays approach, nearly 20 million people are expected to leave Dhaka to reunite with loved ones across the country. Among them, an estimated 7 to 7.5 million travelers will take long-distance buses. To ease the travel rush, leading online bus ticket booking platform bdtickets has launched a special initiative allowing users to secure their seats from the comfort of their homes.

In contrast to last Eid-ul-Fitr, when the platform released 2 million advance tickets, this time bdtickets has increased the number by an additional 1 million, offering over 3 million tickets for this Eid. The platform now covers approximately 99% of long-route bus services in Bangladesh.

According to bdtickets, all tickets will be sold at regular prices—with no additional Eid surcharge—via their website and mobile app. Ticket booking will remain open until the eve of Eid, and for any assistance, travelers can call the 24/7 customer service hotline at 16460. Additionally, return tickets are available with special offers for homebound travelers.

Shafayet Shahnoor, Head of Campaign at bdtickets, commented, “Eid is all about returning to loved ones—the warmth of a mother’s cooking, a father’s call, stories with younger siblings… That emotional pull takes people back to their roots. But when the journey home is marred by ticket shortages, long queues, and black market hassles, the joy of Eid fades. We want to eliminate that pain. No more sweating in the heat or getting drenched in the rain while standing in line. bdtickets wants everyone to book their preferred bus seat online—day or night, from home, at a fair price, with peace of mind.”

He added, “Searching for tickets at the last minute often means missing out on both a good seat and a good bus. That’s why booking in advance is the smart choice. A comfortable ride sets the tone for a joyful Eid journey.”

Imtiaz Ahmed, a customer, shared his experience: “Last Eid, I had to wait for hours at the bus terminal just to get a ticket. But this time, I simply selected my bus on the bdtickets app, made the payment without hassle, and now I’m calmly preparing for my Eid trip.”

With this expanded initiative, bdtickets is aiming to ensure that Eid travel becomes a smoother, more joyful experience for millions of Bangladeshis returning home.
