BSCPLC Announces Incentive Packages for Cheaper International Bandwidth
State-owned telecom operator Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPLC), a publicly listed company in the capital market, has announced more affordable facilities for customers in the use of international bandwidth to help implement the election manifesto commitment of “fast and reliable internet for all.”
On Tuesday, 10 March, BSCPLC announced two special incentive packages. Through this new initiative, ISPs, IIGs and other telecommunications operators will be able to use international bandwidth at a lower cost.
Under the first package, special bonus facilities will be offered for the purchase of new IPLC capacity on the Cox’s Bazar–Singapore (Tuas) route of the SEA-ME-WE 4 submarine cable system. In this case, if any prepaid customer purchases 200G of new capacity, they will receive an additional 100G capacity free of charge. Similarly, for the purchase of 10G of new capacity, an additional 10G capacity will be provided as a bonus for each 10G purchased. Customers with outstanding dues will also be able to avail themselves of this benefit if they submit post-dated cheques for the entire outstanding amount along with a specific repayment schedule within 2026. The offer will apply only to the purchase of new additional capacity and will be provided on a “first come, first served” basis until capacity remains available. This package will take effect from 10 March 2026.
In addition, a “Limited Destination Bonus Bandwidth” package has been introduced for prepaid customers with no outstanding dues under the IP Transit service of Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC. Under this package, customers will be eligible to receive up to 70 percent free bonus limited-destination bandwidth subject to specified conditions. This facility will be provided from the BSCPLC PoPs at Kuakata or Cox’s Bazar and will apply to the destination bandwidth of the organisation’s existing connected CDN providers. The package will take effect from 1 April 2026.
Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC, a state-owned company operating under the Post and Telecommunication Division, said the new incentive packages will enable internet service providers in the country to access international bandwidth at a more affordable rate—less than Tk 90 per megabit of data—and will play a positive role in the development of an ICT-driven and knowledge-based economy.
