Cybercrime Capacity: DMP Conducts Workshops to Boost Investigative Skills
In a strategic move to strengthen its cybercrime investigation and social media monitoring capabilities, the Cyber Crime Investigation Division of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has organized a series of three specialized workshops. These sessions are scheduled to continue through June 19.
The workshops focus on critical areas such as methods for gathering and analyzing data from social media, preliminary steps for collecting and processing digital evidence, and techniques for investigating financial transactions and IP trails.
Approximately 40 police personnel and officers—ranging from constables to Additional Deputy Commissioners—are participating in the sessions. The participants include representatives from the DMP’s IAD Division, DB-Cyber Division, and Women Support and Investigation Division.
The workshops were formally inaugurated on Tuesday, June 17, at the CTTC Conference Room by Additional Commissioner of CTTC Md. Masud Karim. The event was presided over by Deputy Police Commissioner of the CTTC’s Cyber Crime Investigation Division, Md. Shahjahan Hossain.
Speaking as the chief guest, Additional Commissioner Masud Karim stated, “The knowledge gained from these workshops will play a significant role in enhancing the cybercrime investigation capacity of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.”
Through this initiative, participants are receiving hands-on training in modern investigative techniques and digital evidence management. The DMP reiterated its commitment to improving the technological expertise of its personnel to effectively combat emerging cyber threats.
