A three-month freelancing training course (fifth batch) has been inaugurated across 48 districts in Bangladesh to create employment opportunities for educated young job seekers. This phase will train 3,600 youth for future employment.

Implemented by the Department of Youth Development under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the training program is conducted by e-Learning and Earning Limited. The initiative runs simultaneously across 48 districts in the country’s eight divisions. Four batches have already completed training under this project, targeting young men and women aged 18 to 35 who have passed at least HSC or an equivalent examination.

On Sunday, January 4, Youth and Sports Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul inaugurated the course online from the Secretariat. Trainees from all 48 districts joined virtually. The program was chaired by Youth and Sports Secretary Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam and conducted by Director General of the Department of Youth Development, Dr. Gazi M. Saifuzzaman.

Dr. Asif Nazrul praised the project’s management and the trainees’ achievements, highlighting its role in combating unemployment and preventing exploitation. He emphasized that while 17,200 youth have already been trained, the aim should be to expand such programs to reach 1.7 million young people, enabling them to achieve employment, support their families, and contribute to national development. He also suggested incorporating the program into mainstream ministry initiatives for sustainable impact.

The project, fully funded by the Government of Bangladesh with an estimated budget of BDT 299.99 crore from January 2024 to December 2026, targets 28,800 trainees. Since January 1, 2025, the program has successfully trained 10,800 youths across four quarters in all 48 districts. Courses include computer office applications, freelancing, basic English, digital marketing, soft skills, freelancing via smartphones, graphics design, and video editing.
