Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb Condoles the Death of Language Movement Veteran Ahmad Rafique

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, has expressed deep shock and condolences at the death of eminent language movement veteran Ahmad Rafique.
In a condolence message, he said, "Language soldier Ahmad Rafique was a brave warrior of our language movement. His contribution will remain forever memorable in the history of the Bengali nation. His death is an irreparable loss for the nation."
He prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and conveyed his profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Ahmad Rafique passed away on October 2 at 10:12 p.m. while undergoing treatment at BIRDEM Hospital in Dhaka. He was 96 years old (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un). Earlier in the afternoon, his condition deteriorated and he was placed on life support. Dr. Kaniz Fatema, head of the ICU at BIRDEM, was supervising his treatment. He had been suffering from kidney complications and had also suffered several mild strokes in recent months.
On September 11, he was discharged from Labaid Hospital and later admitted to Health and Hope Hospital in Panthapath. However, due to a lack of required facilities, he was transferred to BIRDEM Hospital on Sunday.
Rafique had been living alone in a rented house in Gausnagar, New Eskaton. Born on September 12, 1929, in Brahmanbaria, he lost his wife in 2006 and had no children.
Notably, before his death, he donated his body to Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital and Medical College.
According to Ahmad Rafique Foundation trustee Ismail Sadi, his body will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar at 11 a.m. on Saturday for people from all walks of life to pay their respects.
