Additionally, 14 teams across various categories received silver and bronze medals, and five teams were awarded honorable mentions.
The members of Team Lazy Go include Iqbal Samin Prithul, Abu Nafis Mohammad Nur Rohan, and Rakibul Islam Rakib. Team Increvo, hailing from Rangpur, demonstrated a smart grocery store model using AI and NLP in the senior group. The team members are Abdullah Al Mizan, Sajjad Al Fuad, and Nafis Istai Towfiq Ontu. For the junior group, Team Cyber Squad earned gold with a childcare model, featuring members Afia Humaira and Humaira Afia. Afia Humaira said, “This gold medal is incredibly inspiring for us. We want to take on more challenges in robotics and achieve success on the international stage representing our country.”
On Thursday, September 25, at the United International University (UIU) campus in Dhaka, the winners were presented with certificates at the evening ceremony by UIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abul Kashem Mia following a day-long competition.
Speaking as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abul Kashem Mia lauded the event, saying, “This initiative will inspire young talents in robotics and technology while nurturing their creativity and innovative skills. I hope such competitions encourage even more students to participate. Furthermore, it will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the country’s technology sector.” He also announced that the UIU Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Center would soon be upgraded to a full-fledged department.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Dean of the School of Science & Engineering, Professor Dr. Hasan Sarwar; Director of IRIIC, Khondkar Abdullah Al Mamun; Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Khalilur Rahman from BRAC University’s Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE); Managing Editor of The Business Standard, Khaled Masud; CEO of Brain Station 23, Raisul Kabir; President of Creative IT, Monir Hossain, and COO Ziauddin Mahmud; and President of Bangladesh Open Source Network, Munir Hasan.
Munir Hasan, President of WROBD, expressed gratitude to all participants, their guardians, judges, and volunteers. He also thanked United International University (UIU) for its wholehearted support in making the event successful. He announced plans to establish ten advanced robotics centers across Bangladesh within the next year to expand opportunities for young students. Highlighting the future vision, he expressed hope that 100 teams from across the country would participate in the next national championship, up from 70 teams this year. He also acknowledged the support of UIU’s Mars Rover Team and UIU Robotics for volunteer assistance.
Professor Dr. Hasan Sarwar, Dean of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), praised the young participants for their knowledge and presentation skills. He invited them to UIU for mentorship and guidance and thanked Munir Hasan for organizing such an exceptional event. He urged students to continue learning and improving themselves while emphasizing the importance of physics and mathematics in building a strong foundation for future success.
Prior to this, WROBD had conducted 14 activation programs across five districts during June to encourage students in the field of robotics Olympiads, involving nearly 2,000 participants from various government and private universities. Since 2020, Bangladesh has been regularly participating in this Olympiad, achieving continuous success each year. Workshops were also held in eight divisions of the country to inform students about robotics and encourage participation.
The World Robot Olympiad Bangladesh (WROBD) and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) jointly organized the Olympiad, with United International University hosting the national event. Creative IT and Brain Station 23 served as associate partners.
The Bangladesh national team is set to participate in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2025 in Singapore this November.
