Cyber Chaos Causes Flight Delays Across European Airports

A cyber-related incident has caused major disruption across Europe’s leading airports, leaving thousands of passengers facing delays. According to TechCrunch, more than a hundred flights were delayed at Britain’s Heathrow, Belgium’s Brussels, and Germany’s Berlin airports on Saturday and Sunday.
Collins Aerospace, the airline check-in technology provider, reported that its systems went offline following a cyberattack. As a result, airlines were forced to rely on manual check-in procedures.
Data from FlightRadar24 showed that by 11 a.m. on Sunday alone, over 130 flights at Heathrow had departed at least 20 minutes late, while 13 flights were canceled on Saturday.
Heathrow authorities stated on social media that “following Friday’s outage, work is underway to swiftly resolve the issue.” They added that while most flights remained operational, passengers had to endure significant delays.
Airport officials advised travelers to arrive at least three hours before long-haul flights and two hours ahead of short-haul departures to mitigate disruptions.
