Electronics and cyber security are critical to both the national economy and security, underscored Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, as he urged greater investment in these sectors.

“We are increasingly connected online, and with that comes a greater risk to personal information security. To strengthen these interconnections, protection in the cyber and electronics sectors is essential. That is why we enacted the Data Privacy Security Act last May. Under it, everyone’s security will remain intact. This is a major sector, so we must all step forward to invest in it,” he said.

He made these remarks on Thursday (18 September) at the inauguration of the three-day International Security and Safety Expo 2025, held for the first time at Hall 4 of the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).

In a recorded video message, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb further noted, “The International Security Expo 2025 and the International Occupational Safety, Health and Fire Expo 2025 in Dhaka mark a major initiative in Bangladesh’s security sector. With over 50 institutions, hundreds of brands, and more than 500 representatives, this event will build awareness and foster communication between public and private sectors.”

He also called on representatives of leading global technology companies to invest in Bangladesh’s security and safety industry. “Such international initiatives will help strengthen our national security system. This is not only a showcase of technology but also an effective platform for raising awareness, building networks, and enhancing public-private partnerships. The government is committed to forging close cooperation with foreign security industries to safeguard Bangladesh’s electronics and cyber infrastructure. We must work together to build a safe and prosperous Bangladesh,” he added.

Special guest A.K.M. Amirul Islam NDC, Managing Director (Additional Secretary) of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, pointed to the country’s growing demand for security systems, citing a population of more than 170 million and the rising use of ATMs, RFID tags, and CCTV cameras. He said, “The government is prioritizing investment in hi-tech parks, offering various incentives to attract local and foreign entrepreneurs. With facilities such as high-speed internet, electricity, and security, these parks have become ideal for installing security equipment.” He also urged international security technology firms to invest in these parks.

Welcoming the gathering, Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) Secretary General Muhammad Monirul Islam highlighted the integrated nature of modern security. “Security today is multidimensional, linking cyber threats, physical safety, and infrastructure protection. Through this expo, the government, businesses, and technology stakeholders are brought together to promote innovation, practical solutions, and knowledge-sharing. To sustain Bangladesh’s digital progress, we need not only technological advancement but also parallel investments and policies to secure that technology,” he said.

Madhu Sudon Saha, Managing Director of organizer i-Station Limited, noted, “In today’s tech-driven age, security technologies are rapidly transforming, impacting business, industry, and personal life. For Bangladesh’s local manufacturers, importers, suppliers, and cyber security entrepreneurs, global exposure is essential. The International Security and Safety Expo provides a critical platform to prepare the sector for future challenges.”

The event was chaired by BCS Vice President Md. Wahidul Hasan Dipu, who affirmed, “Since 1987, BCS has been a trusted guide in advancing Bangladesh’s ICT sector. The International Security and Safety Expo further strengthens this commitment. Technology is not only a driver of development but, when used properly, a foundation for building a safe and sustainable Bangladesh.”

Other distinguished guests included Oshi Foundation Chairperson Ms. Saki Rezwana, and Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, SGP, psc, Director (Operation and Maintenance) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate.

The opening concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially inaugurating the three-day expo, which will run until Saturday, 20 September.

The International Security and Safety Expo 2025 is jointly organized by i-Station Limited, Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), and Dubai-based technology company GPE Expo (FZE).
