EFT and bKash Bring Breakthrough in Community Clinic Compensation

Since August 22, Community Clinic Health Care Providers (CHCPs) have begun receiving their salaries through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT).

The information was confirmed by Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Managing Director of the Community Clinic Health Support Trust.

He expressed optimism that this system would reduce the long-standing procedural complications and sufferings related to salary disbursement. Under this method, nearly 14,000 health workers across the country, working in community clinics, will now automatically receive their salaries in their bank accounts without incurring additional withdrawal costs.

On Saturday, August 23, Akhtaruzzaman told reporters, "Apart from salaries, any honorarium provided by the government will now be disbursed through bKash. As a result, system loss has been reduced to zero, and transparency in the entire process has been ensured."

It has been learned that from this month onward, not only salaries but also any government-provided honorarium for CHCPs is being disbursed via bKash. This process has successfully brought system loss down to zero. Stakeholders consider this initiative by the Community Clinic Health Support Trust a landmark achievement in ensuring transparency in the disbursement of salaries and allowances for health workers.

Initially, as CHCPs were employed under project-based arrangements, their salaries were paid through the Operational Plan (OP) of the Fourth Health Sector Program under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The interim government later transferred their employment to the Trust. Finally, in January of this year, these 16th-grade health workers were officially brought under nationalization.

According to officials, the introduction of EFT for salary payments and bKash for honorarium disbursement marks a groundbreaking success for the Community Clinic Health Support Trust. They believe the move not only ensures transparency but will also strengthen the morale and confidence of workers engaged in rural healthcare services.
