Digital Drive for Dual Citizenship: Applications to Go Fully Online from May 16

Starting May 16, 2025, all applications for dual citizenship certificates will be received and processed exclusively online, according to a circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.

The notice stated, "Applications for dual citizenship at Bangladesh embassies/missions abroad and the Ministry of Home Affairs will no longer be accepted in hard copy (offline) from May 15, 2025. In order to ensure transparency, accountability, and faster service delivery, from May 16, 2025, applications for dual citizenship certificates will be received and processed entirely online."

Applicants will be required to access the link scs.ssd.gov.bd using their personal Gmail ID to log in, complete the online form, upload the necessary documents, and pay the government fees via e-payment.

Once the online application is processed, applicants will receive a digital certificate via email. The notice added, "Applicants will be able to download the digital certificate with a QR code using their personal Gmail ID."

The circular was signed on April 29, 2025, by Alimun Razib, Deputy Secretary of the Immigration-3 branch under the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
