Grammarly Goes Grand with AI Upgrade
Popular writing assistance platform Grammarly has rolled out a major design overhaul in its app. The new document-based interface is built on technology from productivity startup Coda, acquired last year, and incorporates multiple artificial intelligence (AI) features, including an AI assistant, proofreader, grader, and citation finder. TechCrunch reported the development.
The redesigned interface uses a block-first approach, allowing users to easily add tables, lists, headers, or separate rich-text blocks. A sidebar-based AI assistant can generate text summaries, answer questions, and provide writing suggestions.
Several tools have been added specifically for students and professionals. “Reader Reaction” provides audience-focused feedback on writing, “Grader” evaluates content against instructor-specified criteria, and “Citation Finder” generates citations from reliable sources. Additionally, the platform now includes plagiarism detection and AI-generated content identification features.
Having recently raised $1 billion in funding, Grammarly stated, “We plan to add even more AI agents in the future,” signaling an ambitious expansion of its AI capabilities.
