JICA Warns of Widespread Web-Based Scams in Bangladesh
The Bangladesh office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has recently become aware of fraudulent activities being carried out across various online platforms using its name and logo. These scams include fake savings schemes, loan offers, and false job advertisements, designed to deceive the public by misusing JICA’s branding.
In response, JICA has strongly condemned these deceptive activities and expressed deep concern over the misuse of its identity.
"JICA takes a firm stance against all forms of fraudulent conduct and urges the public to remain vigilant against such fake offers and messages," the agency stated in a press release issued on Thursday.
The announcement clarified that scammers are falsely claiming to offer personal loans from JICA, often requesting advance payments or processing fees. Additionally, some Facebook posts have been identified as promoting fake savings schemes and job opportunities in JICA’s name.
"JICA does not offer any form of personal loans," the agency emphasized. "Furthermore, at no stage in its recruitment process does JICA collect any kind of fee."
The agency reiterated that all authentic information related to JICA is disseminated through its official communication channels. It also appealed to the public to verify suspicious messages or offers and to stay alert to potential scams.
"We urge everyone to fact-check any doubtful messages or schemes and remain cautious against fraud," the statement concluded.
