Akij’s Paperless Progress: AI and Cloud Propel a Digital Future
In a bold step toward digital transformation, Akij Resources is set to launch its own digital bank—an initiative backed by a remarkable technological ecosystem already in operation within the group.
At Akij House in Tejgaon on October 29, Wednesday, Zayed Bin Rashid, CEO of Akij IBS Limited, shared the company’s groundbreaking story, which exemplifies how digital integration can revolutionize corporate operations.
At Akij, employees have no fixed desks. Instead, they operate through a virtual “People Desk,” serving nine million people via one lakh employees and one million retailers using proprietary software powered by artificial intelligence. The reliance on laptops is minimal—most employees work entirely through mobile devices.
Cheque-based transactions are virtually obsolete within the company. In the current year alone, Akij has executed transactions worth BDT 533 billion in last month through its in-house ERP system. To minimize hacking risks, the infrastructure is built on a zero-trust architecture.
A team of 400 engineers from Akij’s four subsidiaries manage all aspects of this vast digital ecosystem.
“This is not a foreign enterprise nor a fiction,” said Rashid. “This is the real face of Bangladesh’s own Akij Group.”
The event was moderated by Akij Resources’ Chief Business Officer, Md. Towfique Hasan, and featured key company leaders including AKIJ Infotech, Blue CEO GM Kamrul Hasan, AKIJ iBOS Chief Sales Officer Shahed Iqbal, and Chief Digital & Innovation Officer (CDIO) Engr. Md. Firoz Kabir.
Among others, Sk Md Jayed Bin Rashid, CEO at iBOS Limited said, “Everything we have achieved so far has been made possible through the power of digital transformation and our integrated ecosystem. With this journey, we aim to position AKIJ Resource as a role model for how technology can drive sustainable growth and inspire progress across industries.”
In a Q&A session, the officials revealed that the company has developed a fully integrated intranet to ensure business continuity even during internet disruptions. Alongside the upcoming digital bank, Akij is also establishing its own cloud center.
With these initiatives, Akij Resources is confidently progressing toward creating employment for one million people—guided by its forward-looking motto, “Mobile and Cloud First.”
The press meets also featured a special discussion on cybersecurity and governance, where speakers elaborated on AKIJ Resource’s zero-trust architecture, AI-driven risk detection, automated regulatory compliance, and secure cloud system, all of which have established a reliable and secure digital environment for its stakeholders.
The session concluded with a corporate video presentation and a panel discussion. Industry experts noted that AKIJ Resource’s digital infrastructure is strengthening the national industrial ecosystem, fostering public-private collaboration, and accelerating Bangladesh’s progress toward a robust digital economy.
