To strengthen security in the mobile financial services (MFS) sector and curb its misuse in criminal activities, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and bKash have jointly organized a series of nationwide training workshops. Through 14 sessions, a total of 450 PBI investigation officers from 42 districts participated in these specialized workshops.

The closing ceremony of the program, titled “Investigation and Prevention of Mobile Financial Service Misuse,” was held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at a convention center in Dhaka. PBI Chief Additional IGP Md. Mostafa Kamal attended the event as the chief guest. Among the special guests were Major General Sheikh Md. Monirul Islam (Retd.), Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer of bKash; Md. Najibur Rahman, former Additional IGP of Bangladesh Police and Advisor to bKash; and Major AKM Monirul Karim (Retd.), EVP and Head of External Affairs at bKash.

The workshops focused on strategies to identify and apprehend criminal groups using mobile financial services for illicit purposes. Participants were trained on utilizing technology to trace lost customer funds, monitor digital transactions to prevent crimes like abduction, and establish seamless communication with bKash officials during investigations. The sessions also highlighted immediate actions law enforcement can take during financial crimes.

Speaking at the event, PBI Chief Additional IGP Md. Mostafa Kamal said, “For the past few months, bKash has been organizing these workshops at various PBI offices. I believe these 450 investigation officers have gained valuable skills for handling MFS-related cases more efficiently. Moreover, communication between the two organizations will now be smoother and more effective. We hope such workshops will continue in the future.”

Major General Sheikh Md. Monirul Islam (Retd.), Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer of bKash, emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “Where there is money, there will always be those driven by greed, leading to financial crimes. But if we can collectively identify these crimes, take appropriate action, and remain vigilant, we can keep such activities under control.”
