Oracle and Quantinuum Team Up to Bring Quantum Computing to the Cloud

Cloud services giant Oracle and quantum processor maker Quantinuum have taken a major step in the race to commercialise emerging quantum technology through standardised solutions. The two technology companies have announced a multi-year strategic partnership to integrate quantum computing capabilities directly into Oracle’s cloud platform.

Quantum Meets AI

Under the agreement, customers of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure will gain access to Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer. This will allow cloud users to combine Oracle’s high-performance computing, GPU-powered AI services and quantum computing capabilities within the same environment.

The Helios quantum computer, unveiled last November for commercial applications, will be installed at an Oracle data centre in the United States.

New Opportunities for Enterprises and Research

Quantinuum CEO Rajeev Hazra said the next chapter of enterprise computing will be built around the combined power of quantum computing, AI and high-performance computing.

In a joint statement, the two companies said the hybrid quantum-AI infrastructure would help businesses tackle complex mathematical and computational problems while opening new avenues for scientific innovation and education at universities and research institutions.

New Tools for Developers

Oracle said a preview version of its quantum cloud service will be launched within the next few months. It will include Quantinuum’s development stack as well as an open-source hybrid programming framework designed to help developers build and test new quantum-classical software applications and algorithms.
