Free Internet in Public Places in Phases: Advisor: Asif Asad
Following Prime Minister Tareq Rahman's election promise to ensure internet access for all, the initiative to introduce free or easily accessible internet facilities in various important public places across the country in phases has been undertaken, said Rehan Asif Asad, Advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications & Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
He also stated that plans are underway to further strengthen cyber security, data management, and technology infrastructure, and efforts are ongoing to resolve existing complexities related to payment gateways to facilitate international transactions for freelancers and young entrepreneurs.
He assumed his responsibilities on Sunday, February 22nd, at a meeting with the heads of the department organization of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications at the Secretariat. After officially assuming duties through this event, the newly appointed advisor held a meeting with officials at the Information and Communication Technology Division in Agargaon.
Fakir Mahbub Anam, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Sheesh Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division, and Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, were present at the meeting.
