Bangladeshi Local Guides Bring Culture and Community to Connect Live Tokyo 2025

Eight Bangladeshi Local Guides, including two women, proudly represented the country at Connect Live Tokyo 2025, a prestigious annual summit hosted by Google on July 24 and 25 in Tokyo, Japan. The event gathered experienced contributors from around the world to celebrate their efforts in enhancing Google Maps.
The Bangladeshi participants showcased the nation’s heritage, culture, architecture, and local initiatives on the global stage. As part of their cultural presentation, the female delegates wore traditional saris while the male team leader donned a lungi, highlighting the rich attire of Bangladesh. Throughout the summit, the group promoted a positive image of the country through various interactive sessions and cultural engagements.
Among the attendees were Pavel Sarwar and Sumaiya Zafrin Chowdhury, a Bangladeshi couple currently residing in Malaysia, along with Md. Shafiul Bashar, Mahbub Hasan, Shah Md. Sultan, Shakil Akhtar Khan, and Bishwajit Chakraborty. Additionally, Trisha Trisu, a Bangladeshi resident of Japan, also joined the delegation.
Organized and fully sponsored by Google, the summit provided a platform for the Maps team to present their latest features, technologies, and upcoming plans, while gathering valuable feedback from contributors.
The Google Local Guides program is a voluntary initiative where individuals from across the globe contribute to Google Maps by adding new places, sharing photos and videos, posting reviews, and enhancing location-based information to improve the platform’s overall accuracy and usefulness.
