National Quality Convention Calls for Curtailing Industrial Waste Through Performance and Standards

A significant amount of waste occurs in Bangladesh’s industrial sector, which could be curtailed through improved quality and increased operational efficiency. Organizers of the upcoming 28th National Annual Quality Convention (NAQC) emphasized this point during a press briefing held on Saturday, 28 June.

They noted that preventing such waste would accelerate both economic and social development in the country. To achieve this, they stressed the importance of fostering quality enhancement and performance improvement at all levels.

The 28th edition of the National Annual Quality Convention (NAQC) is set to take place on 5 July at the University of Asia Pacific campus. Like every year, the event is being organized by the Bangladesh Society for Total Quality Management (BSTQM) in collaboration with the University of Asia Pacific.

This year’s theme is “Quality First: Empowering Local Industry for Global Excellence.” More than 500 delegates from over 50 organizations, along with more than 70 quality circles, are expected to participate in the day-long convention. Delegates will share their ideas, initiatives, and success stories related to quality management practices within their institutions. Awards will also be given for excellence in various areas of quality management.

The importance of total quality management (TQM) and the activities and prospects of BSTQM were discussed at the briefing held at the conference room of The Structural Engineering Ltd. Engineer A.M.M. Khairul Bashar, an advisor to BSTQM, and Engineer Md. Abdul Awal, Managing Director of The Structural Engineering Ltd. and also a BSTQM advisor, highlighted various aspects of quality development efforts.

The session was presided over by BSTQM President A.K.M. Shamsul Huda and was also attended by BSTQM General Secretary M.M. Kabir and NAQC Convener Engineer Md. Waliur Rahman. The discussion was moderated by BSTQM Vice President and Chairman of the Media Committee Md. Shamsul Alam.

Since its establishment in 1996, the Bangladesh Society for Total Quality Management (BSTQM) has been quietly working to enhance quality and performance across sectors in Bangladesh. The organization regularly undertakes a wide range of programs to promote quality standards nationwide.
