JUST Introduces 'Coding System' for Exam Evaluation
Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has taken a decision in principle to implement a 'Coding System' for evaluating semester answer scripts to ensure transparency and objectivity. Chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yearul Kabir, the decision was finalized during the 67th Academic Council meeting of the university on Sunday. Jashore, September 27, 2026: In a bid to enhance objectivity and eliminate bias in evaluating answer scripts, Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) is set to introduce a 'Coding System'. Under this mechanism, student roll numbers and personal identities will remain anonymous, replaced instead by unique secret codes during the grading process.
The policy decision was approved today, Sunday (September 27), during the 67th Academic Council meeting of the university, chaired by JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yearul Kabir. Emphasizing academic integrity and evaluation quality, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yearul Kabir stated, "Ensuring maximum transparency and objectivity in grading is one of our key priorities. At times, prior familiarity between an examiner and a student poses an indirect risk of subjective influence. The introduction of the coding system will completely eliminate any room for bias or complexity."
He added, "We believe a student's score should genuinely reflect their merit. Under this system, examiners will evaluate answer scripts objectively without knowing the student's name or roll number. This ensures students receive fair recognition for their hard work and reinforces trust in our academic processes. We aim to roll out this system progressively starting from the upcoming semester final examinations."
Commenting on the initiative, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan remarked, "This coding mechanism is a landmark step toward raising academic discipline and quality control at our university. Our primary goal is to keep the examination system above any suspicion or controversy, ensuring no student feels discriminated against while fostering a modern, student-friendly, and accountable ecosystem."
