Microsoft Revamps Copilot with New AI Features and Automation

Technology giant Microsoft has announced a major overhaul of its AI-powered assistant, Copilot. After scaling back the proliferation of AI features in its Windows operating system, the company is now redesigning the core Copilot app to make it more useful for everyday consumers and businesses.

The new version features direct integration with Microsoft Office applications, along with a tab-based interface.

The Home tab allows users to get answers through ordinary conversations. For more complex tasks, it can automatically route prompts to Copilot’s advanced mode, significantly speeding up data analysis and presentation creation.

Coding Without Programming and the New ‘Code’ Tab

Copilot’s new Code tab enables users to create digital tools using natural-language prompts, without requiring any coding or programming skills. By simply describing what they need, users can automatically generate applications, data-management dashboards and desktop widgets.

Jared Spataro, Microsoft’s head of workplace AI, said Copilot would analyse the needs of everyday users and independently organise the code in the most suitable way to build the desired technology tools.

‘Autopilot’ Feature and Enhanced Task Automation

The most significant changes have been introduced in the app’s Autopilot tab, which functions as an independent AI agent capable of carrying out tasks autonomously.

Without direct human intervention, Copilot will now be able to automatically respond to email threads, schedule business meetings, review official documents and complete necessary follow-ups with partners.

With these new additions, Microsoft aims to move AI beyond the confines of chatbots and accelerate everyday workflows.
