BAU Appoints New IIFS Associate Director
- Professor Harun Ar Rashid appointed IIFS associate director for two years

Professor Dr Md Harun Ar Rashid of the Department of Horticulture at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has been appointed Associate Director of the university’s Interdisciplinary Institute for Food Security (IIFS). In his new role, he will be administratively involved in interdisciplinary education, research and academic activities related to food security.
The appointment was announced in an office order signed by the university Registrar on Sunday, 27 September.
According to the order, the appointment will remain effective for two years from the date of issuance.
Copies of the order issued by the Registrar’s Office have been sent to the Director of IIFS, deans and coordinators of different faculties, the Higher Education and Research Committee, the Student Affairs Adviser, the Controller of Examinations, the Planning and Development Office and other relevant offices and officials.
Professor Dr Md Harun Ar Rashid currently serves as a professor in BAU’s Department of Horticulture. Through his new assignment, he will be administratively connected with the university’s broader interdisciplinary academic and research activities on food security.
Interdisciplinary approaches are increasingly important in addressing food security through the integration of areas such as agricultural production, nutrition, agricultural technology, environmental sustainability and resilient food systems.
His appointment as Associate Director of IIFS is expected to contribute to the coordination of such multidisciplinary academic and research activities at the university.
