BAU Students Demand Modern Football Turf

Prioritizing modern sports infrastructure engineering, ground-surface leveling technology, and sub-surface drainage systems, students at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have demanded the comprehensive renovation of campus playfields alongside the installation of a modern mini football turf.

On August 12, Wednesday a formal written request highlighting these infrastructure and technical demands was submitted to the university's Student Affairs Advisor on this day.

Due to a lack of engineering maintenance and structural drainage systems, the stadium and hall grounds have severely deteriorated. The absence of routine mechanical rolling, combined with scattered brick chips, uneven pits, and unrestricted animal entry, has disrupted ground surfaces and compromised student safety, leading to frequent athletic injuries.

Emphasizing the implementation of synthetic turf technology on campus, Md. Meshbaul Haq Mizu, joint convener of BAU Chhatra Dal and key applicant, stated, "Along with renovating the university fields, it is essential to construct a modern mini football turf in line with current trends. Many students spend money traveling to play at commercial turfs in Mymensingh city. Teachers, officers, and employees also share a strong interest in turf sports. Constructing a turf inside the campus will benefit everyone. It could be set up near the gymnasium swimming pool area or an appropriate section of the stadium."

Highlighting the need for all-weather synthetic surfaces, BAU football team captain Md. Abdul Muyeed added, "Regular practice is crucial for participating in annual inter-university football tournaments. However, as most fields remain unfit for play for a major part of the year, our training is severely hindered. Building at least one synthetic turf is vital for uninterrupted daily practice."
