The American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Chapter of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) organized a seminar titled “Innovative Research for a Sustainable Future and Mastering Scientific Writing,” bringing together students, teachers and researchers from different departments.

The seminar was held on Saturday (4 July) at 10:00 am at the Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yarul Kabir attended as the chief guest.

In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need for greater student participation in research activities. He also congratulated the ACS Student Chapter of JUST for receiving international recognition.

Sharing his recent experience from a visit to Australia, Dr. Yarul Kabir said that modern research is evaluated not only by publication output but also by its real impact on society and industry. He urged young researchers to focus on problem-solving and impactful research.

Addressing research ethics, he said data manipulation is unacceptable under any circumstances. Negative results, he noted, are also an important part of scientific research and should be reported honestly and accurately.

The keynote presentations were delivered by Professor S. M. Tarek Abedin of Jahangirnagar University’s Department of Chemistry and Dr. K. M. Anis-Ul-Haque, Chair of the Chemistry Department at JUST.

Other speakers included Professor Dr. Imran Khan, Convener of the Deans’ Committee at JUST, seminar convener Dr. Jannatul Kawser, Associate Professor Dr. Md. Azizur Rahman Khan of the Chemistry Department, and leaders of the ACS Student Chapter.

Deans, faculty members, researchers and students from various faculties attended the event. The seminar was moderated by chemistry students Anni Afrin and Arifan Nahar Orni.
