Focus on Technical Education and ICT Expansion for Human Capital Development

9 August, Sunday: Ambassador Irene Khan, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations, paid a courtesy call on Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan at his office today, Sunday (August 9).

Professor Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, was also present during the meeting.

The discussion focused on government-led educational initiatives, future development roadmaps, and potential areas of UN collaboration to strengthen the country's learning ecosystem.  Ambassador Irene Khan commended the government's recent steps across various sectors, particularly praising initiatives in public education. In response, the Education Minister expressed gratitude to the United Nations for its sustained cooperation in developing Bangladesh's education framework over the years.  

Highlighting the vision for structural reforms, Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan stated, "Under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we have rolled out comprehensive plans to modernize education. To transform our vast population into productive global human assets, we are prioritizing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)."

The Minister also invited further UN assistance to support ongoing education reforms.  Ambassador Irene Khan emphasized the crucial role of integrating information and communication technology (ICT) into the national curriculum.

She noted that Bangladesh holds immense potential in the tech sector, with its students making significant strides globally, and urged for continued focus on vocational skills alongside digital education.
