GSTU Permanently Relieves 16 Teachers of Their Duties, Dismisses One

Seventeen teachers of Gopalganj Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) have been permanently discharged from their posts for failing to rejoin duty after the expiry of their study leave. Additionally, another teacher was dismissed after allegations of irregularities were proven against them. The decision was officially announced in an office order signed by the university's Registrar, Md. Enamuzzaman.

According to university sources, the unanimous decision was taken during the 43rd Regent Board meeting held on June 23. The university administration stated that multiple attempts were made to contact these teachers, who are currently staying abroad without authorization, but they failed to return. The step was taken to maintain a proper academic environment.

The discharged teachers belong to various departments, including EEE, CSE, Statistics, Chemistry, Law, Public Administration, Pharmacy, Civil Engineering, ACCE, Management Studies, and Finance & Banking. The office order further specified that these teachers must return all financial benefits received during their study leave, in accordance with university regulations.

Among the 16 dismissed teachers are Associate Professors Md. Amirul Islam and Ashraful Hossain Hawlader of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE); Assistant Professor Pantha Pratim Sarkar; and Lecturers Md. Ahsanullah, Md. Khairul Bashar, and Upoma Das of the same department.

Also dismissed are Assistant Professor Kakoli Khatun of the Department of Statistics, Lecturer Maimuna Begum Koli of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Associate Professor Dr. Debabrata Pal of the Department of Chemistry, and Assistant Professor Mohammad Rubaiyat Rahman of the Department of Law.

In addition, Md. Mizanur Rahman of the Department of Public Administration, Tasnia Nahian Zulfikar of the Department of Pharmacy, Adhara Tahsin of the Department of Civil Engineering, Farzana Yasmin of the Department of ACCE, Md. Ujjal Hossain of the Department of Management Studies, and Mabia Khatun of the Department of Finance and Banking have also been relieved of their positions.

Meanwhile, the administration of Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU) has permanently dismissed Fatema Khatun, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), over allegations of violating government service rules and professional misconduct.

According to the office order, the university's Regent Board decided to permanently remove Fatema Khatun from her teaching position. The board also directed her to repay the funds she had received from the university.

Earlier, at the 43rd meeting of the Regent Board held on June 23, members reviewed the report of a fact-finding committee formed to investigate the allegations against her, along with the recommendations of the disciplinary board, in accordance with Decision No. 43/6.

Following the review, the Regent Board unanimously concluded that she had been found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of violating government service rules and engaging in conduct amounting to professional and ethical misconduct.
